Daily Media Briefing June 24, 2016

(Millersville, MD) For the 24 hour period beginning at midnight on Thursday, June 23rd the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to 223 incidents (daily average is 220).

Incidents of Media Interest Thursday, June 23rd:

Departmental Motor Vehicle Collision        Severn

Two firefighters injured in a motor vehicle collision Thursday evening in Severn have been released from Shock Trauma. Around 7:00 p.m., the Basic Life Support ambulance from the Harmans/Dorsey Fire Station was responding to a medical emergency in the Severn area when it was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Route 170 (Telegraph Road) under Route 100. The two firefighters, a 36-year old male who was the driver and the 31-year-old male front seat passenger, were the only two occupants of the ambulance and were both injured. Paramedics transported them to Shock Trauma with serious, non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries requiring hospital transport as a result of the collision.


The Department would like to express appreciation to several unidentified citizens who stopped at the scene of the accident and assisted our personnel from their damaged vehicle. This group included a nurse who rendered medical care to the two firefighters until the arrival of additional firefighters and paramedics.
