Daily Media Briefing June 27, 2016

MILLERSVILLE, Md. - For the 72 hour period beginning at midnight on Friday, June 24th, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to 721 incidents.

Incidents of Media Interest Since Midnight

Bicyclist Struck                                                          Pasadena

Paramedics transported a bicyclist to Shock Trauma early this morning after an auto struck him in Pasadena. Firefighters responded to the incident in the area of Mountain Road and Jumpers Hole Road just before 3:30 this morning. The 15-year-old male patient was transported with serious but not believed life-threatening injuries.

Incidents of Media Interest Sunday, June 26th:

The department responded to 241 incidents (daily average is 220).

Motor Vehicle Collision                                            Pasadena

Paramedics transported the operator of a motorcycle to Shock Trauma Sunday afternoon following a collision on Mountain Road. Just after 1:00 p.m. firefighters responded to the 4600 block of Mountain Road, near the Angels Food Market for a reported vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. Firefighters arrived and found a two vehicle accident between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The 26-year-old male operator of the motorcycle was transported to Shock Trauma with serious but not believed life-threatening injuries.

Shooting                                                                     Crownsville

Paramedics transported one person to Shock Trauma following a shooting Sunday morning in Crownsville. Firefighters responded to the incident in the 1000 block of Shore View Circle around 1:45 a.m. A 20-year-old male was transported with serious but not believed life-threatening injuries.

The department responded to 224 incidents.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision                                  Gambrills

A motor vehicle collision killed the operator of a motorcycle on Route 3 Saturday night in Gambrills. Just after 11:30 p.m. firefighters responded to the area of Route 3 South and Capitol Raceway Road for a collision involving a motorcycle. Firefighters located a collision between a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle. The 29-year-old male operator of the motorcycle was declared deceased at the scene after efforts to resuscitate him were not successful. The Anne Arundel County Police have released additional information on the incident.

Injured Person                                                          Chesapeake Bay near Sandy Point

A boating incident seriously injured a 62-year-old female near Sandy Point on Saturday evening. Just after 6:00 p.m. firefighters responded to Sandy Point State Park for an injured person. The Maryland Natural Resources Police advise that the patient was one of four people on a boat that struck wake about a mile off the mouth of the Magothy River. The patient was thrown from her seat, and she struck the side of the boat with her head hitting the gunwale. Paramedics requested a Maryland State Police helicopter which landed at Sandy Point and transported the patient to Shock Trauma with critical possibly life-threatening injuries.

The department responded to 256 incidents.

Injured Person                                                          Glen Burnie


Paramedics transported one person to Shock Trauma Friday night following an assault in Glen Burnie. Just before midnight, firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Bell Avenue for an injured person. Arriving personnel located a 16-year-old female who witnesses reported had been assaulted by a group. She was transported to Shock Trauma with serious but not believed life-threatening injuries.
