Daily Media Briefing June 6, 2016

(Millersville, MD) For the 72 hour period beginning at midnight on Friday, June 3rd, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to 661 incidents.

Incidents of Media Interest Since Midnight

Fatal Bicyclist Struck                                    Glen Burnie

A bicyclist has been killed after being struck by a garbage truck this morning in Glen Burnie. Just before 7:25 a.m. firefighters responded to the area of Central Avenue and Oak Lane Southwest for an auto accident involving a bicycle. Arriving firefighters found an adult female bicyclist who had been struck by a garbage truck. She was declared deceased at the scene. No further information is available.

Incidents of Media Interest Sunday, June 5th:

The department responded to 218 incidents (daily average is 220). There were no incidents of media interest.

Incidents of Media Interest Saturday, June 4th:

The department responded to 242 incidents.

Missing Boater                                               Edgewater

A boater reported missing on Saturday evening was recovered by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Dive team and Marine Operations on Sunday morning. Around 7:05 p.m. Saturday evening, firefighters responded to the area of the South River near Selby Bay for the report of a missing boater. Reports indicated that an adult male had jumped off the boat to retrieve a hat and then failed to resurface. Boats from the Anne Arundel County and Annapolis City Fire Departments along with Natural Resources Police boats and a Maryland State Police helicopter searched the area for four hours before suspending operations for the night. Crews returned to the area Sunday morning where the boater was recovered just after 10:00 a.m.






Incidents of Media Interest Friday, June 3rd: 

The department responded to 201 incidents. There were no incidents of media interest.
