MILLERSVILLE, Md. - For the 24 hour period beginning at midnight on Tuesday, June 28th the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to 243 incidents (daily average is 220).

Motor Vehicle Incident Arnold
One person received serious injuries this morning when a tree struck the passenger bus he was operating. Firefighters responded to the area of Ritchie Highway South and Chautaugua Road just after 7:15 this morning for the reports of a tree which had fallen on a bus with a person trapped. Arriving firefighters found a small bus which had been struck by a tree while it was traveling on Ritchie Highway. The driver was trapped, and two passengers were complaining of minor injuries. Firefighters worked for about 35 minutes to free the driver, a 57-year-old male. He was treated by paramedics and then transported to a waiting Maryland State Police helicopter which had landed at a nearby church. The patient was transported by helicopter to Shock Trauma with injuries that were serious but not believed life threatening. The two patients with minor injuries were transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center by paramedics. No additional information is currently available.

Motor Vehicle Collision Deale
A vehicle collision early Tuesday morning seriously injured one person in Deale. Around 1:20 a.m. firefighters responded to the 5500 block of Deale Churchton Road for a vehicle collision. Firefighters located a single vehicle accident in which a pickup truck struck a tree. The 22-year-old female and lone occupant of the vehicle was transported by paramedics to the Trauma Center at Prince George’s Hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.
